Hamtramck High School is an urban high school located within the
Detroit Public Schools. It is in the Hamtramck Public Schools District
which is independent of Detroit. It is a unique high school serving an
extremely diverse student population of students primarily from
Bangladesh, Yemen, Bosnia, and the United States. Over 37 different
languages are spoken in the district. Over 70% of the students receive
free or reduced lunch and Hamtramck is one of the poorest districts in
Wayne County Michigan. In spite of these obstacles, students have won at
FIRST competitions, LEGO competitions, DECA events, Science Olympiad,
and Physics Olympiad hosted by the University of Michigan. |
